BRIMFIELD INN CHANGES HANDS
New Proprietor will be "Dan" Sullivan, Springfield Hotel Man
Announcement was made last evening that the Brimfield Inn in Brimfield had been sold to Daniel
Sullivan of Springfield, manager of the Cooley Hotel dining room, who is expected to take possession about the first of
November. The Inn has been owned and conducted for the past three years by Charles W. Waldron of Brimfield.
The present structure was built as a co-operative proposition by the townspeople a number of years
ago following the burning of the historic Brimfield Hotel, and has had a varied career since its erection. It has been
managed or owned by a number of proprietors, but none have remained for a great length of time. Now that the State road
between Brimfield and Sturbridge is assured, there would seem to be a greater prospect for an increased patronage.
The Springfield Union of last evening had the following to say of the Brimfield Inn's new owner:
"Dan" Sullivan is perhaps one of the best hotel men in this vicinity, where he has been engaged as
manager of some of the leading hostelries for the last 15 years. For several years he was associate manager of the former
Henking Hotel in Lyman street, which was known as one of the leading hotels in the city.
When Henking purchased the Enfield Inn at Enfield, Conn. about eight years ago, relinquishing
practically all interest in the hotel which bore his name, Mr. Sullivan was retained as manager of the local hotel. Under
his management the Henking Hotel flourished for a number of years and regained some of the prestige which it had formerly
enjoyed. About four years ago Mr. Sullivan left the Henking to take over management of Lynch's Lunch, which was operated by
Charles E. Lynch at the Lynch store in Main street.
During his management of the Cooley Hotel dining room, which position he took after about one year's
service with Lynch's Lunch, Mr. Sullivan has added greatly to his reputation as an efficient and up-to-date hotel man. He has
specialized in bringing the Cooley dining room service up to a standard equal to that of any hotel in the city, and his efforts
have met with success as shown by the large number of customers which throng the Cooley dining room.
